Morning prayer

Apr 18 - 23, 2021

O God, open our lips

and our mouths

will proclaim Your praise

Come, let us sing to the Lord; let us

shout for joy to the Rock of our salvation;

let us come before God’s presence

with thanksgiving and raise to the Lord

a shout with Psalms; for He is our God;

He is great above all gods.  In His hands are the caverns of the earth and

the heights of the hills are His also.

The sea is His for He made it and

His hands have molded the dry land.

Come, let us bow down and bend the knee;

let us kneel before the Lord our Maker,

for He is our God and we are people

of His pasture and the sheep of His hand;

O that today we would harken to His voice.

Loving God, who calls us from the tombs of death to abundant life in Jesus Christ, Your Son: We come – not because we are worthy, but – because Christ is worthy.  We come – not to tell You how to rule the world, but – longing to hear from Your Word how You will reign in us.  Grant us, in this hour, such assurance of Your love and forgiveness that we might hear with joy what Your Spirit is saying to us and leave this time committing to serve You more faithfully.  Through Jesus Christ our Lord, we pray.  Amen!

The Day of Resurrection

(Tune: The Church’s One Foundation)

The day of Resurrection!

Earth, tell it out abroad;

the Passover of gladness,

the Passover of God.

From death to life eternal,

from earth unto the sky,

our Christ has brought us over,

with hymns of victory!

Our hearts be pure from evil,

that we may see aright

the Lord in rays eternal

of resurrection light;

and listening to His accents,

may hear, so calm and plain,

His own “All hail!” and, hearing

may raise the victor strain.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end.  Amen!

The Apostle’s Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth!

I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord; who was:

Conceived by the Holy Spirit;

Born of the Virgin Mary;

Suffered under Pontius Pilate;

Was crucified, died, and was buried.

He descended to the dead.

On the third day, He rose again;

He ascended to heaven,

sits at the right hand of the Father,

and will come again

to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit;

the holy catholic church;

the communion of saints;

the forgiveness of sins;

the resurrection of the body;

and the life everlasting.  Amen!

The Day of Resurrection

(Tune: The Church’s One Foundation)

Now let the heavens be joyful!

Let earth the song begin!

Let the round world keep triumph,

and all that is therein!

Let all things seen and unseen

their notes in gladness blend

for Christ the Lord has risen,

our joy that has no end.

Beloved, find rest in the peace of

God so that in your going out

and your coming in, in your

slumber and in your service,

you may glorify the Lord.
