CALL TO PRAYER AND PRAISE

Come, let us sing to the Lord; let us shout for joy to the rock of our salvation; let us come before God’s presence with thanksgiving and raise to the Lord a shout with Psalms.  For He is our God; He is great above all gods; in His hands are the caverns of the earth and the height of the hills are His also.  The sea is His for He made it and His hands have molded the dry land.

Come, let us bow down and bend the knee; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker, for He is our God and we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand.  O that today we would harken to His voice.  (Ps. 95)

OPENING PRAYER w/ CONFESSION

Almighty God, from our rest,

we rise to meet with You;

meet us here.  Let us

know Your presence; Let us

hear Your voice; Let us

feel Your comforting embrace!

Silence for Reflection

Holy God, we have sinned against You,

in thought, word and deed, by what

we have done and by what we have left undone!  Forgive us, we pray and

free us for joyful obedience through

the power of Your Holy Spirit.  Amen!

MORNING SONG – UMH 159

Lift High the Cross

Lift high the cross,

the love of Christ proclaim

til all the world adore His sacred Name!

Come, Christians, follow

where the Master trod, our King victorious, Christ the Son of God.

Lift high the cross,

the love of Christ proclaim

til all the world adore His sacred Name!

Led on their way by this triumphant sign, the hosts of God in conquering ranks combine.

Lift high the cross,

the love of Christ proclaim

til all the world adore His sacred Name!

Each newborn servant of the Crucified bears on the brow the seal of Him who died!

Lift high the cross,

the love of Christ proclaim

til all the world adore His sacred Name!

O Lord, once lifted on the glorious tree, Your death has brought us life eternally.

Lift high the cross,

the love of Christ proclaim

til all the world adore His sacred Name!

AFFIRMING OUR FAITH

The Nicene Creed

We believe in one God, the Father,

the Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord,

Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,

eternally begotten of the Father,

God from God, Light from Light,

True God from True God,

begotten, not made,

of one Being with the Father;

through Him, all things were made.

For us and for our salvation,

He came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary

And became truly human.

For our sake, He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered death

and was buried.  On the third day,

He rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; He ascended into heaven

and is seated at the right hand

of the Father.  He will come again

in glory to judge the living and the dead,

and His Kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord,

the Giver of Life, who proceeds from the

Father and the Son, who with the Father

and Son is worshipped and glorified,

who has spoken through the prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic

and apostolic church.  We acknowledge

one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.

We look for the resurrection of the dead,

and the life of the world to come.  Amen
