Morning Prayer

JAN 16 - 22

F       Ps 31Ps 31;

S       Ps 30Ps 30Ps 32Ps 32Ps 32;

Open our lips, O God

And our mouths will

proclaim Your praise!

Come, Let us sing to the Lord;

let us shout for joy to the Rock of our salvation;

let us come before God’s presence with thanksgiving,

and raise to the Lord a shout with Psalms.

For He is our God; He is great above all gods;

in His hands are the caverns of the earth and

the heights of the hills are His also.  The sea is His

for He made it and His hands have molded the dry land.

Come, let us bow down and bend the knee;

let us kneel before the Lord our Maker, for He is our God and

we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand;

Oh that today we would harken to His voice.

Good Morning, Lord!  Thank You for waking us up this morning and calling us to this time with You.  We come wanting to know you; we come needing Your filling and Your transformation!  We come bearing burdens too great to carry on our own.  In our time together, speak life and freedom into us, in the Name of Jesus, Your Son, our Lord, we pray.  Amen!

Sweet hour of prayer, sweet hour of prayer!

That calls me from a world of care,

And bids me at my Father’s throne

make all my wants and wishes known.

In seasons of distress and grief,

my soul has often found relief

and oft escaped the tempter’s snare

by your return sweet hour of prayer.

Sweet hour of prayer!  Sweet hour of prayer!

The joys I feel, the bliss I share

Of those whose anxious spirits burn

with strong desire for Your return!

With such I hasten to the place

where God my Savior shows His face,

and gladly take my station there,

and wait for you, sweet hour of prayer!

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.  Amen.  Amen!

F     Gen 11:27–12:8Ps 31Heb 7:1–17Jn 4:16–26;

S     Gen 12:9–13:1Ps 30 & 32;

Heb 7:18–28Jn 4:27–42;

I believe in God the Father Almighty,

Creator of heaven and earth;

I believe in Jesus Christ,

God’s only Son, our Lord, who was:

Conceived by the Holy Spirit;

Born of the Virgin Mary;

Suffered under Pontius Pilate;

Was crucified, died, and was buried;

He descended to the dead.

On the third day, He rose again;

He ascended to heaven,

sits at the right hand of the Father,

and will come again to

judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit;

The holy catholic church;

the communion of saints;

the forgiveness of sins;

the resurrection of the body;

and the life everlasting.  Amen!

Our Father in Heaven: Holy is Your Name; Your Kingdom come; Your will be done on earth as in heaven.  Give us today our daily bread and forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.  Lead us away from the time of trial and deliver us from evil for the Kingdom, the power, and the glory are Yours, now and forever.  Amen!

Sweet hour of prayer!  Sweet hour of prayer!

Thy wings shall my petition bear

to Him whose truth and faithfulness

engage the waiting soul to bless.

And since He bids me seek His face,

believe His Word and trust His grace,

I’ll cast on Him my every care,

and wait for you sweet hour of prayer!

Dismiss us now, O God, from this time of prayer

that we may go about this day, serving You by serving others, loving You by loving others, and through our service and our love, showing others the way that leads to eternal life.  Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, we pray. Amen!
