An Order for morning prayer

July 07 - 13, 2019

WE ARE GATHERED BY GOD’S WORD

Invitatory and Blessing

Open our lips, O God, and our mouths will proclaim your praise!

Blessed are You, Sovereign God, Creator of all, to You be glory and praise forever.  You founded the earth in the beginning and the heavens are the work of Your hands.  In the fullness of time, You made us in Your image, and in these last days, You have spoken to us through Your Son Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh.  As we rejoice in the gift of Your presence among us, let the light of Your love always shine in our hearts, Your Spirit ever renew our lives, and Your praise be ever on our lips.

Silence for Self – Examination

Confession of Sin

Most Merciful Father: With a humble heart, I confess that I have sinned against You.  In my thoughts, my words, and my deeds, I have failed to glorify You.  I have done those things which You prohibit; I have not done those things which You require. In some, I have tried and failed; in others, I have found it too hard to attempt.  Forgive me, O God, and by Your mercy, strengthen me to be faithful in all things, so that I may ever rejoice in Your will and walk in Your ways. Amen!

Morning Song

Jesus, I just want to Thank You

Jesus, I just want to thank You.

Jesus, I just want to thank You.

Jesus, I just want to thank You.

Thank You for being so good.

WE LISTEN TO GOD’S WORDS

Prayer of Illumination

Ever–Speaking God: Quicken the ears of my heart so that as I read Your Word today, I might hear it as a message for me and so be called and strengthened to obey.  Through Christ the Lord.  Amen!

WE RESPOND TO GOD’S WORD IN FAITH

Affirmation of Faith

We belong to God, eternal and infinite, Creator of all things and all that is to come.

We follow Christ, who comes to us from God, and reveals God to us.  He heals people, transforms lives, and calls us to join in His ministry.  He was crucified, died, and was raised again by God and reigns over all Creation.  He bids us to die and rise with Him in the service of the healing of the world.

We are moved by the Holy Spirit, together with the communion of saints, as members of the Body of Christ, God’s holy universal church.

We are confident in the forgiveness of sin, the power of resurrection and the reality of eternal life.  In all things, it is our desire to follow Christ, by the grace of the Holy Spirit, for God’s glory.  Amen!

The Prayers

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father in heaven, holy is Your name, Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us.  Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil.  For the Kingdom, the power, and the glory are Yours, now and forever.

10,000 Reasons

(Click on this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXDGE_lRI0E)

Bless the Lord, Oh my soul, Oh my soul; worship His Holy Name;

sing like never before, Oh my soul, I’ll worship Your Holy Name.

The sun comes up there’s a new day dawning; it’s time to sing Your song again.

Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me, let me be singing when the evening comes!

Bless the Lord, Oh my soul, Oh my soul; worship His Holy Name;

sing like never before, Oh my soul, I’ll worship Your Holy Name.

You’re rich in love and You’re slow to anger; Your name is great and Your heart is kind.

For all Your goodness, I will keep on singing, 10,000 reasons for my heart to find.

Bless the Lord, Oh my soul, Oh my soul; worship His Holy Name;

sing like never before, Oh my soul, I’ll worship Your Holy Name.

And on that day when my strength is failing, the end draws near and my time has come,

still my soul will sing Your praise unending, 10,000 years and then for evermore

Bless the Lord, Oh my soul, Oh my soul; worship His Holy Name;

sing like never before, Oh my soul, I’ll worship Your Holy Name.

Closing Prayer

     Loving God, help me do the things I should,

     To be to others kind and good,

     And in all I do and all I say,

     To grow my loving throughout this day.  Amen!
